Sleep & Energy

FIND TRUE HEALING

Restorative sleep is just as
important to your health as nutrition, exercise, & stress reduction

If you have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or maintaining enough energy throughout the day, there is likely an underlying imbalance at play. Common causes include hormonal imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, blood sugar imbalances, gut health issues, chronic inflammation, stress, sleep apnea, and mental health.

We take a collaborative approach to uncover the root cause of your sleep issues so you can finally enjoy restorative sleep.

OUR APPROACH

Optimize Lifestyle Factors

Good sleep hygiene starts long before you get ready for bed each night! Your functional medicine provider (and counselor if you are working with one) will ask you questions about nutrition, sources of stress and coping methods, sleeping habits, and exercise. This helps us pinpoint lifestyle factors that might be contributing to sleep issues, allowing us to tailor an effective management plan.

Personalized Supplements

Sometimes our mind and body need extra support to get the proper levels of nutrients and hormones required for restorative sleep. In addition to optimizing lifestyle factors, we incorporate personalized supplements to restore balance and support lasting improvements in your sleep patterns.

Weight Management

Conditions like sleep apnea and insomnia can be associated with weight management concerns. If that’s the case for you, our collaborative team will examine all angles to help you achieve a more ideal weight. This may involve a tailored nutrition plan, insulin optimization, movement recommendations, and hormone regulation. This is because cortisol, aka our “stress hormone,” can lead to weight gain and sleep disturbance.

Christian Counseling

Chronic stress can lead to mental health concerns like anxiety and depression and can affect your sleep. That’s why we often recommend counseling appointments to help you explore root causes of your sleep disturbances. Your counselor will help you learn how to identify and better address unprocessed emotions, unresolved trauma, and unhealthy coping mechanisms that may present during sleep.

Examine Bedtime Routines

A supportive bedtime routine helps ensure all the other efforts pay off. On the other hand, bright lights, screens, and stress depress melatonin, the hormone that makes you sleepy. We’ll help you create an intentional bedtime routine with good sleep hygiene that allows you to truly unwind each night.

Hormone Treatments

Another common cause of sleep issues is hormonal imbalances. Understanding how hormones influence sleep can help develop strategies to improve sleep hygiene and overall well-being. If we believe this may be the case for you, we can use conventional and functional medicine lab testing to balance hormones and treat the underlying cause.

Full Health Discovery

We’ll develop a clear picture of your current health status, past medical history, and future health goals. You will begin with a functional medicine provider to create a timeline while receiving diagnostic assessments that help us understand your emotional needs better. This also allows us to examine your nervous system health so we can objectively track your sleep health over time.
